Asia Conference - Day 3

Yesterday was insane!
As expected, super long queues!

Session #4 was held by Dr. A.R. Bernard.
The things he shared with us was really amazing.

He even used a parable, "Fish in sea water and not be salty."
Yes, as Christians, we ought to be in the "sea" and not become "salty"
We have to know how to draw a line between culture and spiritual discipline.

Culture: Imitation? or Isolation?
Allowing culture to shape us or reject culture and become irrelavant?
Seperation IS NOT Isolation!

In Genesis, man was Good.
We fell from that "Good"
Jesus came to reconcile us to the "Good" not just connecting us with God.
We must not be terrified against the world for we believe greater is he who is in me than the world!

Christians often says greater is he who is in me than the world, but they are afraid of engaging culture, engaging the world and become irrelavant.

Insulation & Penatration
Whats Insulation about? Keeping the cold out and heat in.
We have to insulate ourselves and keeping the "cold" out and our core values, "heat" in.

How do we get people saved? By insulating them with truth, illuminate them with the truth.
You will get sweaty inside if you insulate too much! So, know when to do it at the right moment.

Whats Penatration?
It is to be stealth, undetected and get into the 2nd space and even the 3rd!
We must not have desperate spiritual mugging, don't just mug mug mug in the church and not use it in the place where we are put in. Jesus says that we are to be sheeps placed among wolves, not sheeps among sheeps!

Be ready!
We all have to be educated, so we can go to the 3rd space, then you can penetrate and illuminate!

The Night session #5 was by Ps. Kong.
Man.. the word is so strong that I can't bare to leave early! But I have to >_>

In this session, Ps. Kong talked about interfearing culture. Kristos Kai Kosmos.
Here are 3 key passages: Is. 60, Rev. 21 and Heb. 13.

In Is. 60 and Rev. 21, it clearly says that Heaven is a city! Is the Holy City, the New Jerusalem.

In these 3 passages, it talks about 3 symbols of pagan pride: Camel, Ship and Cedar.
These pagan items will be redeemed and changed to turn from bad to good!

How does God judge?
Destruction? or Construction?
Fire of purification? or Fire of destruction?
He cut down trees only to reshape them!

Our God is a redeemer, not a destroyer!
His ultimate goal is to bring in redemption and restoration! not to destroy!
So, pop culture will never be destroyed, our progress, knowledge, skills, will never be destroyed! It will still be brought to Heaven.

Everything in the world will be redeemed, renewed for the new jerusalem, every progress will also be brought to heaven.

People say, when you die, you can't bring things on earth along with you. Yes and No!
Yes to materialism but No to progress, knowledge, skills and culture! Even technology!

HEAVEN - Holy City.
In christian life, we must not be passive! Heb. 11 - 13
We have to seek for heaven and not await for it to come!
We have to be actively seeking!

But how?!
Heb. 13:11-14
It is to go out to the world to get everything redeemed.
The church is the house of God but our purpose is to get things redeemed OUTSIDE the four walls of the church!

How again? Through the ability to SERVE outside the church.
Rev. 21:23 - New Jerusalem, is filled with lights!
So, in conclusion, we must not be passive but ACTIVE and not judgemental.
In the world and not of the world.
Yes, We Can! Yes, We Believe!
