The Five People You Meet In Heaven

written by Mitch Albom.

1. First Lesson from The Blue Man:

Fairness does not govern life and death. If it did, no good person would ever die young. No life is a waste. The only time we waste is the time we spend thinking we are alone. We were never alone!

2. Second Lesson from The Captain

Time is not what you think. Dying? Not the end of everything. We think it is. But what happens on earth is only the beginning. Sometimes when you sacrifice something precious, you’re not really losing it. You’re just passing it on to someone else. Sacrifice is a big part of our life.
In the middle of a big war, you go looking for a small idea to believe in. When you find one, you hold it the way a soldier holds his crucifix when he’s praying in a foxhole. Even in times of trouble, don’t lose hope. Hold on to even an inch of hope you have. God never loses hope for us.

3. Third Lesson from Ruby

Holding anger is a poison. It eats you from inside. We think that hating is a weapon that attacks the person who harmed us. But hatred is a curved blade. And the harm we do, we do to ourselves. To forgive is to forget. Holding anger is like killing yourself slowly.

4. Fourth Lesson from Margueritte

LOVE, LIKE RAIN, can nourish from above, drenching couples with a soaking joy. But sometimes, under the angry heat of life, love dries on the surface and must nourish from below, tending to its roots, keeping itself alive. PEOPLE SAY THEY “find” love, as if it were an object hidden by a rock. But love takes many forms, and it is never the same for any man and woman. What people find then is a certain love. Lost love is still love. It takes a different form, that’s all. You can’t see their smile or bring them food or tousle their hair or move them around a dance floor. But when those senses weaken, another heightens. Memory. Memory becomes your partner. You nurture it. You hold it. You dance with it. Life has to end but LOVE will doesn’t and it will remain forever.

5. Fifth Lesson from Tala

Even in our remorse and grief for our mistakes and if we think that our life is a waste, there is always good outcomes in our every actions. There is a reason for everything. God won’t put us in a situation if we can’t get through it.
