I got 28 Points for my O Level's.
English - B4
Maths - D7
Comb. Humans - C5
Comb. Science - C6
Chinese - C6
Principles of Account - E8
I was kinda disappointed and lost when I found out that I do not have any polytechnic courses offered in my result slip.
Luckily, there are such a thing called SIM or NAFA.
However, I am kinda happy because even though I got 28 points, my parents began to show their care and concern for me. They even helped me to find private schools to enroll into.
I just hope that I could get into NAFA but its expensive.
Lets give a cost price comparison between NAFA and SIM.
NAFA
First Year: $7,000SGD
Second Year: $7,000SGD
Third Year: $7,000SGD
Total: 3 Years @ $21,000SGD
SIM
15 Months: $9,095
3 Months Foundation Course (because I've failed my Maths): $3,103
Total: 18 Montsh @ $12,198SGD
If I take NAFA, I will be taking up Visual Communication course majoring in Advertising Design. Though its my dream to become a Graphic/Advertising Designer, but my dad keep saying that even if its your dream, you still have to consider the job I'll get in the future.
NAFA allows the payment through CPF.
If I were to pay back in the future, lets say I pay $300 per month, it would take me 5 Years and 9 Months to complete my debt.
SIM allows installment so, lets say I pay $300 per month, it would take me 3 Years and 4 Months.
NAFA has my dream course, Advertising Design. My future job would either be Creative Director, Graphic Editor, Art Designer.
SIM has the potential best job in the future considering sales and business is a big thing in the market.
So which should I choose?! Continue pursuing my dream course Visual Communication majoring in Advertising Design. and I may have to pay quite a long time before I could enter Uni for my Degree.
or SIM? SIM's payment is easier but it doesn't interest me. The job prospects are good and I can quickly get my Degree since the diploma takes 18months and I could quickly take up a job to finish the payment and quickly enroll into a Uni.
ガ━━Σ(゚Д゚|||)━━ン!!
Instead of thinking I don't have a way out already, I've got 2 important choices!
oh my..........

Hey edo, do what you like (passion) and can do best (talent). Coz if both combined, u can go far in your future job career. Don't do/choose an option even if others say its the best or the 'hottest'. All the best ya? :)
hey. I somehow stumbled on to you blog. Some random stranger but im willing to give my own opinion. I admit im gonna be a lil bias since i study in nafa. Basically most of the teachers are awesome. They provide an indepth arts foundation. I suggest you follow your interest. Talent can bring you a long way. I have a friend who got 13 points 2 years ago and decided to take business, and now he dropped out cause he had zero interest in it. As for degree wise, right after your diploma, there is a one year degree course. So its like you get your degree after 4 years. Im in visual comm and thinking of taking advertising as my major. So far, i can feel the competition rising. Its pretty stressful but is worth it. Think abt it. Nafa is having an open house from 31st to 2nd feb. Just dont regret your decision. I hope this helps.
