Bye 2007, Hello 2008

Its already the 30th of December 2007.
2007 ended just like a blink of an eye!

Yesterday was GREAT! It was the last cell group of this year.
The games, prizes, spoofs, food. I could see new friends smiling and having fun with the games and singing really made my day. (psst, even Wayne laughed!)

Hahaha..!
Firstly, of course we had ice breakers!
The game is about time bidding, for example, David asks how long would you take to finish 30 sweets among your team members? Then each team have to bid for the time and the winner is the team which has the lowest time bid.

The first task was to pop straws using the twist and turn flicking technique.
(come on lah, I'm sure you know what am I talking about!) O(≧▽≦)O ワーイ♪

My team bid that we could finish 20 straws within 1 minute. I was thinking, aiya.. 2 minutes, can one lah. So the rest also agreed that within 1 minute we can pop 20 straws.

When it was time to show our bids, I was very shocked. Shaun's team bid was to finish 1 straw in a minute while the other team says that they can finish 10 in a minute.

Of course, we "won" the bid and we had to try our best to pop finish 20 straws within a minute. We lost! really.. kena owned =_=
That Sly Shaun very sly lor! ワーイ ヾ(★´Д)

Ok so, the next challenge was, how long would you take to finish 30 sweets?
Hikaru's team "won" the bid and they did it! It was amazing to see how he gobble up 8 sweets at one go.

The 3rd challenge was, how long would you finish a packet of cuttlefish?
Shaun's team "won" the bid and they did not complete it just because Mason had 1 left in his mouth! Awwwww! \( ̄▽ ̄;)/

The other bid was thrown to Shaun's team (I forgot the reason), they have to quickly take the plastic bags, wear it over the head and tie a knot below.

The last challenge was to complete a chain using metal wires (I don't know what you call them but its just used for tying the wires/cables). Hikaru's team "won" the bid and his team had to each take 3 or more to finish a chain with 50 wires.

Hmm.. Did his team won? I can't seem to remember. ( v ̄▽ ̄)

After the games we went onto Praise and Worship then to the prizes and spoofs.
I won the "Viewer's Choice" Award where it means I got the most votes for being a blogger in my cell! O(≧▽≦)O ワーイ♪
Shaun won the "Evangelistic" Award, of cos lah.. bring 7 people along then Kenneth came and Isaac.
Hikaru won the "Servant hood" Award. Oh my.. Too bad Peter isn't in the cell anymore otherwise he wouldn't have won! ヽ(・∀・)ノ ワチョーイ♪
Darwin won the "Giver" Award? (I'm not sure bout this). Anyway, because he was the person that kept treating dinner and all so I felt that its a must for this award to be given to him! Faa...I mean Prosperous.

So far all of the 4 SA in the cell, Shaun, Hikaru, Darwin and I won an award in this year from the cell. Ahh, I was glad! But I something that struck me was that I did not know Shermange had P.O. maybe stronger than mine, hopefully the award would keep her confident and strong for the Lord.

Heres a group pic of all the Award winners! (Including spoof awards)

Isaac, the sacrifice

Cell group is officially over and fellowship has begun!
The food was.. FABULOUS! AMAZING! DELICIOUS! EDIBLE! CRUNCHY! SPICY! MOUTH-WATERING!
(say it fast! fabulousamazingdecliciousediblecrunchyspicymouth-watering)

Though the food was finished, we had games! I can't believe that we did not play any of the board games but we played..

Merry Christmas '07

Woah, its late but o well, I its a sin not to post this!!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS '07 EVERYONE!!!!!

Wahh..I tell you ah this whole week is really great!
On last Wednesday, the SA had a gathering at Bradell for a BBQ!
Of course, we really pull out of money and Jared also helped us to pay some of the money. (aiya cannot say lah)

I am glad that most of them turned up. This was the 2nd time we've met after the Grad Night. Ahhh, how I wish all of us could be together in a class and joke again.
Really siah, I missed how Jian Wen, Agilan, Zi Yi, Stewart, Ah Min and Hendry make up some parody or some idiotic jokes. Though I find it annoying, but I somehow missed those days ~_~

Well, among all of the SA guys that we've invited for the BBQ, only a few turned up for the Christmas service. I'm glad that 8 of us could have the chance to plant this small seed in them.

I am currently online in Ivalice Ragnarok Online these few months. Its a pity that I can't get some of them where I find that they are real potential peeps.
How I wish I could get them saved tho.
Too bad most of them are from Malaysia, hopefully those talks with them could plant a small seed lol

Maybe someday I could travel to Malaysia KL to pay them a visit and maybe I could bring them to City Harvest KL?!

Yeah so, yesterday was GREAT!
So many new faces turned up for the Christmas service! I am so glad that some of them are really opened, like for eg. Roger!

Most of them are quite shy tho, but nevertheless they stayed on for the fellowship at Jared's new house. We ate there! There were, 10 Pizzas, Chips, Orange Syrup, Ice Lemon Tea, Sushi.

Ahhh come to think of it I feel hungry now XD

The service was really great. Its been a long time since I last felt this feeling again, the new-face-come-to-CHC feeling I don't know how to describe that ahahaha..

Before coming to the service, wa kao.. same scenario again! My mom is at home!!!
I prayed hard for my Mom to quickly go out asap (shhhh)
It worked! Immediately, I called Kenneth and we cab'd to Church with Wilson and Vinson.

Its never too late! I reached just on time! God will never be too late to do anything! ahahahaha, seriously, sometimes how I wish I could just meet him face to face and give him a high five for those answered prayers.

oh btw, as promised, I wanna post this YouTube.com video!

Christmas Cellgroup!

OMG! Its a blink of an eye and Christmas is just so near!
I could still remember that I attended the Christmas Cellgroup last year.
It was amazing but this year was better! ヽ(゚ー゚*ヽ)

The Christmas songs were really good lah! I really enjoyed the whole session.
Before the cellgroup started, Hikaru and I went there first to setup and to decorate.

It was my first time decorating a Christmas setting and first time setting up a Christmas Tree! I was so glad that I could do something like that for the later cell group meeting.

There were 3 cellgroups together combined @ Stella's condo's function room.
Last year's was held at Stella's place too.

Ahhh.. when it was time for praise and worship.. I felt great as if that day was the happiest day of my life! really really happy. The food was great! I think better than last year even! There was Stephen's curry, Canadian Pizza, Fried Fishballs, Fried Rice, Bee Hoon and many packets of chips!

When it was time for Gift exchange, I was both worried and excited!
I was the one buying a gift for David and I really do not know what to buy!
So, I went shopping with Shaun and trying to have a lookout for a present which would look both cool and slick enough for David since he is really a Stylo Milo guy..

I bought him a watch which was kinda cool!
Normal watches would either be the needle type or the digital type.
The watch I bought don't fit into these two common styles! AT ALL!
The watch has 3 circles, the smallest in the middle which represent seconds, then minutes then hours.

The circle has all the numbers etc and the whole watch is covered with the metal covering and only revealing a few numbers. On the metal covering, there is an arrow pointing horizontally towards the 3 circle pieces. Aiya.. I don't really know how to describe.. lol!

What surprised me was the gift from Jared. He bought me a pair of Jeans!

The surprise was not just because of the Jeans itself but the way how Jared tricked me into telling him my waist size.

That day when I was going to Suntec to help out in packing the Christmas Cards at CHC's Main office, Jared called me.

"Eh edo ah, what's Hong Xiang's waist Size ah?"
At first I thought he asked me what was Hong Xiang's tithe amount LOL
(it was pretty noisy thats why)

So I just told him that Hong Xiang's size is around 28.
Then he asked Shaun's so I said 28.
Then he asked me again, "You sure or not? 28 only? Hong Xiang and Shaun same meh?"
Then I said yes. Then he asked me "ohh.. then whats yours?"
So I told him my waist size and I thought that Jared was buying for Hong Xiang since he asked me more about Hong Xiang and I thought that he was just comparing Hong Xiang's waist size to mine.

ahaha.. so thats how he got my waist size! GOOD TRICK!

The other thing that amazed me was Mason's raw testimony.
It was not edited by Jared yet but its really Raw! Mason typed it himself and it was real and really showed how much God had changed his life around.

He had moved me quite a little and I was shocked too, I didn't know that Mason's past was like that. While listening to Mason's testimony, I was thinking to myself, wah.. when will it be my turn to share my testimony? But if I were to share, how to? where to start from? How to end?

Anyway.. I'm really glad that Mason is saved despite his past.
Hes really rising up fast!

Christmas is so near.. I just pray that I would be able to attend the services on Sat Sun and Tues. Hope that my mom would not stop me from going out since its Christmas!

Anyway, friends.. If you are free.. nothing to do during holidays, drop me a message here or on MSN or by mail! Come on and join me in my church's Christmas service.

It will be fun ok.. Theres drama and food fair! So what are you waiting for?!

ET Breakaway Camp '07

Breakaway..I'm Living for you!
Breakaway..I'm Living for truth!

This camp is really a breakaway chance for me to really have fun and get to know more people. I could even know someone like Chao Han that is from other zone!

I was posted into Team Abraham for the camp. It was disappointing that I couldn't join the camp for the whole day throughout and staying over night. Oh ya.. The camp was held at Paya Lebar Methodist Girl's School. At first everyone will think that it is a small school but when I reached there with the guys, we were really amazed to see how big that school was!

Praise the Lord that I could bring a friend for the camp! His name is Nigel.
I knew this guy Online and only had met him a few times. Hopefully, he would be able to come with us again for cell group or for the Sunday service.

The first day was already exciting lor!
The first game we played was Bacteria and then we moved onto building a tower with NEWSPAPERS! ガ━━Σ(゚Д゚|||)━━ン!!

Aiya, our tower wasn't really strong lor but anyway I was glad to see Han Yong's Team Moses Tower was standing strong lol..

oh yah..! ookok.. Han Yong was Team Moses' Team Leader, Darwin was Team Noah's Team Leader, Jonathan Choo was Team Elijah's Team Leader. Shiok lah! Look! 3 Team Leaders from SA~! ( ゚▽゚)/

Back to topic, after the newspaper-tower thingy, was time to move onto our classrooms where we sleep at during the night. (Ahhh sian lah I didn't stay overnight)
Then after that was Lunch then it was Praise and Worship Afternoon session.

Nigel came along too and after the afternoon session, I asked him was he shocked when all of us spoke in tongues and he told me he was really shocked.
Luckily I remembered Edmund's sermon about sharing our own 1st encounter experiences with new friends, so I shared my experience about my 1st encounter in praise and worship session.

After all that was already 4~5pm plus and Nigel went home.
Ah too bad he didn't stay for the evening session, it was refreshing!
I'm glad to see new friends and those kids shouting out loud to praise God and jumping like never before!

After that was already the normal games such as "Win, Lose or Draw" ,"Spider Web" , some sabotouching game that involves pouring of mixtures of flour, egg, etc together, Captain Ball (net ball?).

Oh ya, the captain ball was really imba (imbalanced) lor! We got Guo Jun as our opponent and he was like.. 1 head 1 neck taller than me(175cm)!

During the evening session they told us our results for the first day, Team Abraham was last 3rd. It was really shocked to see our team to be the last 3rd. However, Serene (Team Abraham Leader) kept on encouraging us not to give up!

Then it was already night time, dinner time! And comes Julius joining us for Dinner.
Julius was really funny lor, his jokes are really cold but really super funny! o(>▽<)o

I went to the bus stop at around 11 and reached the Kovan MRT at 11.25PM !! Luckily I reached there just on time for the last train towards Harbor Front.
I reached home at around 11.40PM and I was.. REALLY REALLY GLAD to not see my mom at home! I quickly throw my clothes into the washing machine and prepare to bathe so that when my mom comes home, she won't really know that I went out!
WAKAKAKAKA ψ(`∇´)ψ

The next day, I woke up at 7.20AM, it was really tiring for me and I was kinda reluctant to go but! I still did went for the 2nd day after all.

When I reached there, I thought the "Spartan Exercise" was already over, but to my surprise, when I reached there(8AM) all of them just woke up. AHHH! And it was Spartan Exercise lor.

Run 2 rounds around their stadium.. Less than 2KM and Isaac was already dying. >_>;
After that was Break Fast! Fried Bee Hoon!
Next was the morning session and briefing for the day.

The first game was "ET Olympic"! The whole thing was funny lah.. The first person running have to hold a cup of water, then pass onto the 2nd person which must hold onto the cup of water and kick a ball and then pass all of it to the 3rd, then the 3rd have to pass everything to the 4th, 5th, 6th then the 8th person have to take everything together including a box under the feet and the 8th person have to slide the box together with the cup of water, soccer ball all the way to the finishing line.

The second game was about cooking. Using some camping cooking utensils lor, the kick was that all of the Teams have to bid for the food that is being auctioned. Each group are given "$500" (fake one lah) and each food/utensils/etc is auctioned at the starting price of $50.

Our team allied with Team Gideon and we shared money to buy! wakakaka but in the end, most teams allied together to buy the last item which was chocolate.

We didn't get it but we only had Cabbage! (´∩`。)
However, when it was time to cook, every team trades with us with their part of the food with our piece of cabbage.

Team Abraham was lucky that Raymond came all of a sudden, we did the cooking and preparation and the presenting of the food to the whole camp.

While some of them was doing the cooking, Kenneth and a few of us went to did the water bombs, because after the cooking game was the water bomb game.

Fast Forward... --> --> -->
The water bomb game! I tell you ah.. its super duper kuper guper luper yuper FUN
8 SA guys all allied together which was Team Abraham, Gideon, Moses, Ester, Elijah and Noah. 6 Teams allied together to attack 1 team. The aim of the game was to get as many ice cream sticks from the opponent. 2 Sticks at once only. All of us attacked Ravi's Team Jacob. His team's sticks were all gone within a few minutes. oh ya, the other aim of the game was keeping our armor bearers' cloth behind their backs dry.

1 piece of cloth of the armor bearer costs 50 points and 1 stick costs 1 point.
Altogether, Team Abraham got 143 points in total from the game! Previously we only had 65 points. So, 143 + 65 = 208 points!

After that was time for drama preparation. All of us really did a super impromptu script and skit lol. Everything was impromptu.
Overall, our drama was the 2nd in the camp.

To our surprise, Team Abraham was the 1st runner up and which was the 2nd in the camp! We were last 3rd! Jumped to 2nd! OMG~!~! ガ━━━━((;'゚,д'゚)━━━━━ン !!

Team Abraham, I really thank you guys for the great experience in the camp. We all did well altogether and we all finally climbed up from the underdog. Really lor, it was really a great camp experience for us, not only having fun with the games, also having fun with the Lord with his presence.
I'm glad that all of us pulled through altogether, no matter how much work into our team, all of us did a great job, at least making a difference! I'm glad that our impromptu drama worked out and even got 2nd.

Jared really did a great job too, and all the cell group leaders of course. Everyone that took part in this camp indeed made a big difference in every single person's life lor. This camp is really a life changing experience. I'm gonna look forward for the next camp and I'm believing that I would be able to stay over night!!!!

Fundamental Tourism Course @ NP

Alright, I'll just give a chop chop no-pic post for this..
After our O Levels, Grad Night, it was this.

Day One

The first day was short, it ended by 3pm due to the later Graduation Dinner during the night.

It was a whole new experience for me to go to Ngee Ann Polytechnic for a fundamental course. I did not expect the tourism module to be that interesting.
What I thought before was a boring course just for time killing.
In the first day I've learned that this course was pretty 'IN' for people like me since it was a research for the latest developments all around the world.
I bet the rest of us also had a great time there for the first time too.

It was overall an eye opener for me to visit the Tourism Resource Centre at Tourism Court, 1 Orchard Spring Lane.
I'd never go there if I didn't went for this fundamental course.

In the Tourism Resource Centre was something like a library that is meant for researching on tourism developments.
I remembered that all of us was given a individual assignment to give a presentation on the latest tourist attractions or the latest tourism developments. So, all of us were all looking for informations in that resource centre.

There were many sections in that resource centre. One of them was like a 'bank' for the old news about the developments all around the world.
There was also a section for the M.I.C.E which has magazines about it but too bad it was published on 2006 otherwise I would have taken that for my presentation.

In the resource centre had a computer section for visitors to do their research. I tried my search there through the Google search. Finally, I've found an interesting article about Taiwan - Taipei's latest food fever for faeces shaped like Ice-Cream and as well as Toilet-Bowl Bowls and also, Toilet-Bowl seats.

I can't wait to present my presentation about this latest food trend in Taiwan - Taipei.
In addition, I also learned that I MUST be up to date especially to the newest developments all around the world including FaceBook!

Day Two

It was the second day and all of us that had attended the Graduation Dinner were all tired.
But nevertheless, I still continued to do my best to stay awake since I kinda felt enthusiastic for the later trip to the National Museum of Singapore.

Alright, before the trip all of us met the other teacher. This teacher was also very interesting as well as the previous teacher.

She somehow gave us the energy to strive since she was giving such an interesting lecture about the Marketing of destinations and attractions.
It was useful for our very own individual assignment since what she had taught us was all about tourism marketing.

After that, we finally went to the National Museum of Singapore.
It was really an eye opener because it showed that how Singaporeans could be that creative.

The first thing that we saw was the chandeliers. It was interesting because it was programed to swing in 9 different patterns.

I remembered that there was a wet paint feature on the floor which really looked wet but it wasn't!
The other ones were the clothes of the 80s and as well as the old music products of the 80s. Something that really awestruck me was the Chinese coffin and the room for opium smoking. But of course they were all fake!

The tour guide Mr. Lim was very enthusiastic about bringing us all around the museum because he kept telling us about every single aspect of the building even the ceilings. He also told us about the old ghost stories of the building like for example, there was once a baby child that went up the spiral stairs and never came back again.

The most interesting part of the whole building was that it was actually a separated building and it was all reconstructed and air-conditioned.

The greatest gratitude for Mr. Lim was that he even brought us up the the 3rd floor which was actually not opened yet. From the 3rd floor, it was somehow the roof and all of us were able to see the other neighborhood buildings.

It ended well and we went back for the rest of the lecture about visitor attractions, casino & gaming , Dark, Sports, Medical ,Shopping tourism.

Day Three

Wow! It was already the 3rd day of the whole entire fundamental course.
Day 3 was interesting because it was a lecture about the newest developments of the Hotels & Resorts.

This day we've all learned about how may hotels be classified according to location, price types of services offered. I think the most important part of the whole lecture was to showcase how advanced hotels had developed.

This was also classified as "When Science meets Art". The structure of the Hotels shown in the presentation were pretty amazing! Especially the Hotel that is going to be built in China, Songjiang. It's design of the whole building is like a piece of puzzle sticked onto the walls of mud and soil.

The other one was the Bearfire Resort which would cost approximately $375 million! I've also learned that there are also cheap "motels" in Singapore. The teacher also shared a short experience in the Motel which she thought it was a dirty place *ahem*

The other thing about a Hotel/Motel or a Resort was not only a place for living but also it was for commercial purposes. It could include conferences, meetings and even conventions!

After all these was the time when all of us had to present what we had researched on over the week end.

Finally when it was my turn, I was quite nervous after all, I am the last person that day to present my research.
I did not really had enough source for my topic because it was really a new development and it didn't had sources even on the Internet!

Despite of what I didn't have, I only had to use what I had.
So my power point presentation only contained pictures and descriptions of the pictures and only a slide with words.
Luckily my presentation turned out to be fine since it was kinda funny due to the faeces shaped like ice-cream.

Well? It kinda ended well overall despite I was actually quite nervous and I didn't end my presentation well enough. Despite our amateur presentation, the teacher complimented us and even promised us that she would not fail us!

Day Four

Finally its day 4, 1 more day to go!
On day 4 was all about food and & beverage industry and as well as the tourism trends. These trends consists of classification of restaurants, types of food and food preparation.

I feel that among all the categories of the tourism industry, food & beverage industry is the most important factor. Why? Because I feel that when a tourist goes overseas, no matter what they would like to have a pleasing meal instead of a meal that they dislike or might make them feel sick.

The service and menu price is also very important. An increase in service usually equals an increase in menu prices too.
And of course, food preparation method is also as important. Food can also be categorized into two, food that starts from scratch or the pre-prepared ones. For me, I would choose food that starts from scratch. Through that, then I could really taste the chef's real skill of cooking his dish that he is presenting it to me. Also I believe that cooking is part of the art genre.

After the presentations, we were all given newspaper articles to read and tell the class what is it actually about. We were given around 10~20 mins to prepare ourselves. I've chosen an article about an assistant manager that really engages into his customers. He doesn't only manage the restaurant but he also takes charge of a waiter's job. He categorize his customers into 4 types, the Sharks, the Teddy Bears, the Owls and the Lamb.

The sharks are customers whom are difficult and fussy who know precisely what they want to eat and expect the taste of the food to meet their expectations.
The Teddy bears are customers that wants to be pampered. They like to talk to you and you have to take good care of them!
The Owls are customers that only listens but don't accept your suggestions and always order what they want.
The Lambs are customers that are very shy and diffident. They don't want to make a fuss and you have to reach out to them.

This is what I call REAL passion! He doesn't only do all these and he even had a small diary to note down each of his customer's habits and which dish is their favorite etc.
This guy had won many favors from many of his customers and he even won the national Excellent Service Award.

After that we had our lunch at canteen 2. The chicken rice there is great! And after our lunch it was our trip to the Esplanade. We were all given a piece of worksheet to complete.

I did it with my other friends and we managed to finish the worksheet quickly.
This worksheet is all about the Esplanade, showcasing the history of Esplanade and why, how is it built.

Through this worksheet, now I understand what is Esplanade is all about, and even why does it look like a durian.
Do you know that the Esplanade wasn't meant to look like the Durain? It was actually taken from the eye of a bug. If you would notice, the Bug's eye is exactly the same as the Esplanade's features.

Inside Esplanade, there are many different sections. It also includes 2 halls, the concert hall and the concert theater.
They are truly amazing because each of these halls could contain thousands of people. Its structure of the whole hall was really meant to be for Symphonic bands, Orchestral Bands and concert bands to perform in. The facilities and the body structure is built in a way that the sound could be so contained as if you are very near the musicians.

The concert theater could even park a plane on its stage! The whole entire structure for this theater could be adjusted, its first 5 rows could be extended even.

Through Esplanade, I've known that it was actually built by a passionate architect. His designs are all mainly built for the musicians to be able to hear themselves even when they are performing.
I had once performed in the Esplanade concert hall during the year 2004.
I could also remember that when I played the triangle, just hitting it gently could even be amplified louder by the special boxes all around the hall.

I really had a great experience to know how amazing the Esplanade was.
Oh ya, it costs $600,000,000SGD to build the entire Esplanade!

You replied to your post on Nov 21, 2007 at 5:06 AM.
Day 5

Finally its the last day of the whole entire course.
The last day all of us have to learn everything about Itinerary planning.
The whole class was given an assignment, we are all required to give a presentation on our very own Itinerary plan for 20 students from Tokyo Japan.

Of course its just an example!
An itinerary is the logical, interesting and step-by-step organization of the elements of a tour on a daily basis. My group had came up with a short plan finally after the 1 hour given.

Before going into planning, we also learned that we ought to determine our client's wants and quickly establish what tourists prefer to visit, eg. heritage sites, hawker centers, discovery centers and even the Esplanade.

We also have to plan the duration of the entire tour, how long it will last and how many days it will last. The teacher also tipped us that we must not pack too many activities in a day to avoid travel fatigue.

Of course, among all the visiting and enjoying, meals is the most important part of the whole entire tour in Singapore. I remember that there was a survey showing that 'Lao Pa Sa' is the must-go-before-you-die place to eat.

After all the tips and lectures, it is our time to plan and present.
It was assumed to be at mid December period when the Japanese students would reach Singapore Changi Airport by 9.30.

My group's plan was pretty good in my opinion because we didn't pack too many activities in a day. We also analyzed that on the first day, we should not tire the students therefore we planned for a short tour around Singapore. We also planned to bring them to 'Lao Pa Sa'.

Our "hotels" that should be planned for them to stay in was actually our own HDB flats at Potong Pasir. We've planned that 4 students are able to stay in each of our own HDB flats. This could also allow them to have a taste of living in a HDB flat and the neighborhoods.

Finally we are done, my group was the first to present the plans.
I was pretty nervous and I did not really know if I did well. I've done my best though. From this presentation for the Itinerary planning, I've learned that having the skills of public speaking is very important. If I didn't had confidence, I might start to stutter or even stand there and not talk.

I'd thank the students in the class and the teacher that gave me and my friend which was presenting it with me a smile and showing that they are interested of what we have planned.

Overall, this course has actually given me the chance of experiencing public presentation and a short poly life before I even step into polytechnic.

I'll end here, Thanks for reading this whole thing!
